Accompanying with the advancement of national ecological civilization, promoting green geological exploration has become a crucial measure to ensure national energy and resource security under new circumstances. In this paper, provincial geological exploration projects and green exploration demonstration projects implemented in Shandong province from 2018 to 2024 have been reviewed. The implementation of practicing the concept of green development and carrying out green exploration in Shandong province have been introduced. From the aspects of establishing a sound green exploration standard system, constructing green exploration demonstration projects at the provincial and ministerial levels, and innovating green exploration practices, the achievements of green exploration in Shandong province have been summarized. Through policy guidance, layout plan, innovative management models, and promoting green exploration experience and practices, a "standard supported+demonstration led" green exploration Shandong model has been created, and a new approach of green geological exploration that is in line with actual situation in Shandong province has been explored.
